Solution Overview – Veritas Vision
Vision is the primary delivery vehicle for Veritas. It takes information from the Veritas Perform database and presents a range of displays and reports; from balanced scorecards with drill through, dashboards, simulations, real time mapping, real time process flows, through to vector mapping, all within a 3D or 2D cockpit.
In addition, Vision can take data from sources other than the Veritas Perform database and combine it together and present it as a single whole vision or view. For example, performance information in the Veritas Perform database might indicate that there is a particular issue with re-admissions in a particular speciality or ward. By drilling or clicking onto a control Vision can be instructed to fetch that detailed data from the core EPR / PAS or indeed another detailed data warehouse.
Veritas Vision is a high performance, rich visualisation product set capable of providing real-time business reporting via an intuitive and highly engaging 3D cockpit. This next generation interface engages and empowers users to enable them to consume and use information in a form that facilitates informed business decision making. Veritas Vision really makes a difference
The stand-out features of Veritas Vision are its engaging and leading edge interface, its high performance data retrieval and processing engine. But it is no ordinary retrieval engine. Veritas Vision can access and process heterogeneous enterprise data sources in real-time, at lightning speed presenting its outcomes into a single page of information if necessary. Last but not least, its ease of cockpit deployment is truly outstanding. Stand-out features of Veritas Vision

The days of being able to function in a steady state environment are long gone. Veritas helps you overcome these stresses. Veritas’s lightning quick processing and intelligent display means your management team have access to up to the second, accurate, dependable information which is accessible in that they can see what they want, when they want, in a crystal clear way. Veritas Vision can be your guide and adviser in this challenging and demanding world.

With Veritas Vision it is possible to mix clinical with financial data to present real information in a way that actually works for hospital management. For example, Veritas Vision can identify the real cost of a procedure or consultant costs; it can compare FCEs (Finished Consultant Episodes) and / or Hospital Spells; it can compare ALOS (Average Length of Stays) to determine the costs of efficiencies currently operating within the hospital. All of this and much more is possible with Veritas Vision.
A world that no longer recognises where a business day starts and ends; today’s business day is 24 / 7 - the boundaries have gone. Our world demands instant, yet considered responses and the repercussions of providing a lacklustre and / or incorrect response can be organisation changing. In this world you need dependable, easily accessible and ubiquitous information support. Veritas Vision can be your guide and adviser in this challenging and demanding world.

Let’s look at some examples of Veritas Vision

This example of a Veritas Vision page shows referral statistics from primary care to Kings College NHS Foundation Trust; a world class teaching hospital in London with a budget of USD 900m. We have used data from the Trust’s PAS (Patient Administration System) allied with Google Maps to present an image of referral information. The User by changing the filters in the three associated tables can cause the map to be redrawn. Further, by manipulating the coverage area represented by the radius in metres, the map will again redraw and highlight appropriately. This type of information informs decision makers of needs analysis and work balancing.
The screen shot demonstrates Veritas Vision’s capability to show Hybrid maps; that is a mixture of photograph and map as well as standard Google maps. With the power of Veritas Vision it is possible to map and chart and represent any form and type of geographical information that might be considered appropriate for clinical research or the operation of the hospital. For example, we could cluster ICD information to understand whether there might be geographical factors related to particular diagnostic conditions. All of this and much more is possible with Veritas Vision.
This example demonstrates Veritas Vision’s multi-language capabilities; it shows a sophisticated set of analyses for one of our Taiwanese customers and all set in Chinese / Taiwanese. Language can be tailored to a user; so the user log-on determines which language set that Veritas Vision uses.

This example looks at the incidence of H1N1 across USA. The difference with this example is it shows how it is possible using the slider at the top to illustrate the information at any one point in time up to July 2009, for example roll back to July 2006. So by simply moving the slider the user can quickly see the hospitalisation and death rates at that time. All the elements are linked and refreshed in an integrated form. Finally, the animator at the top right hand of the page allows time sequence to be run through, just like playing a video. A useful mechanism to understand information outliers over time, to see data spikes that might not be spotted when represented in a conventional form.

This example shows a Shuttle Flow monitor that can be updated in real-time. This example looks at a factory process and potential bottlenecks within that flow. Kings College NHS Trust is in the process of implementing this into their A&E / Casualty / ER department to understand where bottlenecks occur that warrant improvement and action. In the UK up until recently, Hospitals face financial penalties if they do not meet mandated targets – one of which is wait times in A&E. As can be seen the concept can be applied to any process intensive environment that can be mapped and data taken from.

This is an example of a Veritas Vision page showing an OLAP Analysis environment where appropriate users are able to quickly build additional charts and tables based on analysis cubes. Drill down, across and up to mine for information quickly and easily. All of which can then be exported to Excel or CSV files, etc.

As a final example; information taken from Kings College NHS Foundation Trust showing In-Patients and Out-Patients ALOS (average length of stay) by postcode. This information can be presented at an organisational level, Care Division, Clinical Speciality and down to Ward Level
